It's fun to draw people in the style of "My Neighbors the Yamadas." Last week, my dad announced as we were both sitting in the car, "I'm going to hug you now." We never hug. Like, ever. So I got out of the car and engaged in an awkward embrace 20 years in the making. I'm pretty sure he cracked my spine.
We've never been very affectionate. When I was young I would ask him, "daddy, do you love me?" to which he would slowly remove his glasses, massage his eyes, and hiss an almost inaudible, "goddamit."

I LOL'ed. At the story and the drawing.
I like how, when you told this story at dinner we all started talking about how much our parents never hugged us when we were little.
My parents are awesome for not hugging me :)
This makes me kind of sad Matt...
Soooo funny. I love that goddammit ending. Holy crap thats funny.
i agree with eric on this one. this is hilarious shit.
And now it all makes sense! So, you started creating these imaginary creatures, like the
"echidna" to provide that extra emotional support, that you weren't receiving from your father.
Awesome Post!
Haha!..man
this picture of your dad reminds me of my uncle, he insists on wearing fishing vests that resemble your dad's fashionable vest. My uncle tends to stock his with old gold wrapper candy, not a big fan of it. great drawing
Awwwwwww. haha. This is kind of a personal story Matt...:)
